WHY WE CELEBRATE LABOUR DAY/WORKER DAY/MAY DAY?

The Labour Day/ International workers day/May day in India is celebrated in order to honor the contribution of working men and women. It is observed on the first day of the month of May.

The Labour Day in India is also known as the May Day. May 1 corresponds to the International Workers' Day which is celebrated around the world. It is observed as a national holiday in around 80 countries including India.

History of Labour Day in India

Labour Day in India or May Day was first celebrated in Chennai (then known as Madras) on May 1, 1923. The initiative was taken by the Labor Kisan Party of Hindustan. The leader of the party, Comrade Singaravelar arranged two meetings to celebrate this occasion.

One meeting was held at the Triplicane Beach, and the other took place at the beach opposite Madras High Court. On the meeting, Singaravelar passed a resolution which stated that the government should announce a national holiday on the May Day or Labour Day in India. He also emphasized the need for non-violence within a political party. This was the first time a red flag was used in India.

Origin of the Labour Day

The history of the Labour Day dates back to May 1, 1886. On this day, labour unions in the United States of America decided to go on a strike with the demand that workers should not be allowed to work more than 8 hours a day. This strike was followed by a bomb blast in Chicago's Haymarket Square on the 4th of May. This led to the death of several people and police officers. In addition, more than 100 people were injured in the blast.

Although the protests in the U.S. didn't lead to any immediate result, yet it helped establish the 8-hour work day norm in India and other countries in the world. Since then, the Labour Day is observed as the day for parades and demonstrations all around the globe.

Labour Day celebrations in India

The Labour Day is celebrated as the day for protests not only in India but around the world. This is when the working men and women participate in processions to defend their rights and safeguard their interests. Various labour organizations and trade unions come up with their processions so that the economic reforms they've proposed become effective in a short period of time. Other than processions, you'll find contests being organized for children to participate and understand the bond of togetherness. This way the children can understand the strength of unity which is the essence of the processions that are a part of the Labour Day celebrations.

In addition to processions, there are public speeches held by leaders of various political parties in order to celebrate May Day. This is the day when Maharashtra and Gujarat attained statehood in 1960 once the old Bombay State was divided on the basis of language. Hence, the May Day is celebrated as the Maharashtra Diwas and Gujarat Diwas in the states of Maharashtra and Gujarat respectively.

The Labour Day is a special occasion when people worldwide celebrate the true spirit of the working class. It's the day when workers get together and showcase their strength which indicates how effectively they can struggle to bring in positive reforms for the working class of the society.

WHEN IS RAMADAN IN 2017?

                                                بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Ramadan in 2017 will start on Saturday, the 27th of May (27/5/2017) and will continue for 30 days until Sunday, the 25th of June.

THE QURAN ON FASTING
"O you who believe! Fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may become Al-Muttaqun (the pious).8

(Fasting) for a fixed number of days, but if any of you is ill or on a journey, the same number (should be made up) from other days. And as for those who can fast with difficulty, (i.e. an old man, etc.), they have (a choice either to fast or) to feed a poor person (for every day). But whoever does good of his own accord, it is better for him. And that you fast, it is better for you if only you know." (2:183-84)

"The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Quran, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the criterion (between right and wrong). So whoever of you sights (the crescent on the first night of) the month (of Ramadan), he must fast that month, and whoever is ill or on a journey, the same number (of days which one did not fast must be made up) from other days.

Allah intends for you ease, and He does not want to make things difficult for you. (He wants that you) must complete the same number (of days), and that you must magnify Allah for having guided you so that you may be grateful to Him" (2: 185).

"It is made lawful for you to have sexual relations with your wives on the night of the fasts. They are garments for you and you are the same for them. Allah knows that you used to deceive yourselves, so He turned to you and forgave you. So now have sexual relations with them and seek that which Allah has ordained for you, and eat and drink until the white thread (light) of dawn appears to you distinct from the black thread (darkness of night), then complete your fast till the nightfall.

And do not have sexual relations with them (your wives) while you are in Itikaf in the mosques. These are the limits (set) by Allah, so approach them not. Thus does Allah make clear His signs to mankind that they may become Al Muttaqun (the pious)" (2:187).

"Verily! We have sent it (this Quran) down in the night of Al-Qadr.

And what will make you know what the night of Al-Qadr is?

The night of Al-Qadr is better than a thousand months

Therein descend the angels and the Ruh (Gabriel) by Allah's Permission with all Decrees,

Peace! until the appearance of dawn (97:1-5)
THE HADITH ON FASTING
Abu Huraira related that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever fasts during Ramadan with faith and seeking his reward from Allah will have his past sins forgiven. Whoever prays during the nights in Ramadan with faith and seeking his reward from Allah will have his past sins forgiven. And he who passes Lailat al-Qadr in prayer with faith and seeking his reward from Allah will have his past sins forgiven (Bukhari, Muslim).

Abu Huraira related that Rasulullah said: If anyone omits his fast even for one day in Ramadan without a concession or without being ill, then if he were to fast for the rest of his life he could not make up for it (Bukhari).11

Abu Huraira related that the Prophet said: Allah the Majestic and Exalted said: "Every deed of man will receive ten to 700 times reward, except Siyam (fasting), for it is for Me and I shall reward it (as I like). There are two occasions of joy for one who fasts: one when he breaks the fast and the other when he will meet his Lord" (Muslim).

Abu Huraira related that Rasulullah said: Many people who fast get nothing from their fast except hunger and thirst, and many people who pray at night get nothing from it except wakefulness (Darimi).4
When to start fasting
Ibn Umar related that the Prophet said: Do not start fasting unless you see the new moon, and do not end fasting until you see it. If the weather is cloudy then calculate when it should appear (Bukhari, Muslim).
The Suhoor meal (which is eaten before dawn)
Anas related that Rasulullah said: Take the Suhoor meal, for there is blessing in it (Bukhari, Muslim).

Breaking your fast

Salman ibn Amir Dhabi related that the Prophet said: Break your fast with dates, or else with water, for it is pure (Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi2).

Fasting during a journey

Aisha related that Rasulullah was asked whether one should fast when on a journey, and he replied: Fast if you like, or postpone it if you like (Bukhari, Muslim).
Behavior while fasting
Abu Huraira related that the Prophet said: If a person does not avoid false talk and false conduct during Siyam, then Allah does not care if he abstains from food and drink (Bukhari, Muslim).7
Forgetfully eating or drinking while fasting
Abu Huraira related that Rasulullah said: If anyone forgets that he is fasting and eats or drinks he should complete his Siyam, for it is Allah who has fed him and given him drink (Bukhari, Muslim).
Providing for those who are breaking the fast
Zaid ibn Khalid Juhni related that the Prophet said: He who provides for the breaking of the Siyam of another person earns the same merit as the one who was observing Siyam without diminishing in any way the reward of the latter (Tirmidhi).
Lailat al-Qadr
Aisha related that the Prophet said: Look for Lailat al-Qadr on an odd-numbered night during the last ten nights of Ramadan (Bukhari).
Anas ibn Malik related that Rasulullah said: When Lailat al-Qadr comes Gabriel descends with a company of angels who ask for blessings on everyone who is remembering Allah, whether they are sitting or standing (Baihaqi).

KHANQAH IN GAYA

KHANQAH IN GAYA

A khanqah  (Persian: خانقاه‎‎)), also known as a ribat (رباط)  – is a building designed specifically for gatherings of a Sufi brotherhood or tariqa and is a place for spiritual retreat and character reformation.

In the Arab world, especially North Africa, the khanqah is known as a zāwiyah (Arabic: زاویه‎‎, plural zāwiyāt. In Turkey, Iran and formerly Ottoman areas like Albania and Bosnia, they are locally referred to as tekiya (تكيه).

KHANQAH MAZAHIRYA

Syed Shah Qazi Mazahir Imam Rahmatullah was the founder of khanqah mazahiriya.

He was the most loved disciple of Hazrat Ata Hussain Fani Rahmatullah. Initially he was hesitant to become a disciple of any Sufi master, (though he wanted  Hazrat Ata Hussain Fani Rahmatullah to be his master), as his father was also the disciple of Hazrat Ata Hussain Fani Rahmatullah.
Hazrat Ata Hussain Fani Rahmatullah used to say that "it seems that you are very hesitant to accept oath so i will have to take your oath forcefully". The words of  Hazrat Ata Hussain Fani Rahmatullah became true. Qazi Mazahir Imam Rahmatullah was an immaculately beautiful person with a charismatic personality.
He was once listening to Sama in the Manpur locality of Gaya district and a man who was looking for a Pir after completion of all his studies came to him respectfully and requested him to make him his disciple. Qazi Mazahir Imam Rahmatullah said,"I am still not associated with any of the Tariqah (orders) how can i make you my murid?".
Qazi Mazahir Imam Rahmatullah kept on repeating himself, but the stranger was very firm about his commitment. At last Hazra Qazi Mazahir Imam Rahmatullah went to Hazrat Ata hussain Fani Rahmatullah to become his disciple. When he entered the Khanqah  Hazrat Ata hussain Fani Rahmatullah was sitting on the Sajjada, waiting for him.
Hazrat Ata hussain Fani Rahmatullah had already taken out the Shijra (the chain depicting the name of all the Sufis in the order) and signed the Khilafatnama (a certificate giving permission to the disciple to propagate the order further) to be given to him.
Once he became the murid of Hazrat Ata hussain Fani Rahmatullah he used to visit his master in the Khanqah everyday on foot, covering a distance of five to seven kilometers across mountain and rivers.
Hazrat Ata hussain Fani Rahmatullah died in 1889 but he kept visiting the shrine of his master until his last day on earth. He died in 1942 and was buried in the Abgila locality of Gaya. His life is a perfect example for the disciples of all the Sufis. He never called the descendants of  Hazrat Ata Hussain Fani Rahmatullah by their name even when one of the great grandsons of Hazrat Ata Hussain Fani Rahmatullah was his son-in-law.
His disciples were innumerable and was present all over India. He founded his own Khanqah which is famous as Khanqah mazahirya and is still in existence.
He had three sons Qazi Maqbool Imam, Qazi Waris Imam Rahmatullah, and Qazi Jalil Imam. His youngest son died in 1992. The orders of his eldest and youngest son are no longer in existence, but the order of his second son and many of his Caliph is still present.
Syed Shah Qazi Najam Imam Chishti Monami Hifzullah  is the grandson of Qazi Maqbool Imam-the eldest son of Qazi Mazahir Imam Rahmatullah and the present Sajjadanasheen of Khanqah Mazahirya founded by Qazi Mazahir Imam Rahmatullah. He has Khilafat (Ijazah) from Qazi Waris Imam Rahmatullah (the second son of Qazi Mazahir Imam Rahmatullah).
